New Year Intentions

I haven't set New Year resolutions for years.
It just started to feel silly when I would break them within the first week month.

This year I am planning to make some changes though...does that make them resolutions or just new intentions?

I'm going to continue my clutter clearing by also purging some crap stuff off my electronics. My computer, iPad and iPhone are jam packed with things I don't need or use anymore.

I'm going to let go of things I can't control. Being a control freak, this will be my biggest challenge but will probably have the biggest impact.

I'm going to stop making excuses for not having enough time to meditate. Everyday.
It's all of 15 minutes? Get real Jennifer.

This is looking list and resolution-like already. Crap...not my intention.

I'm plan to grow my hair a bit longer. My last haircut was my usual Bob, but Bob Cats hair looks better than mine.  Perhaps a new stylist is in order too :-) Ya think?

I think I may only knit with cashmere yarn this year. It's so wonderful to use and in a very fine weight...not too warm for my hot flashes personal summer moments and California weather.

I'm planning to swear less often. I don't sound like a truck driver but still... From others, I always assume they just can't think of something worthwhile to say...so good for the goose and all that crap.
Is crap swearing? If so, this may be tough.

I will laugh more, it's one of the finest joys that is absolutely free and harms no one.

We won a new camera this year, through intention, really...I'm pretty sure I willed it through intention.

They were doing a prize drawing at the scourge of my holiday season  my husbands Christmas party. I looked up as they gave away a flat screen TV.  They then announced a camera as the next gift and I said "Honey, I want you to win me that". Ten seconds later they called his name. Win!!
I had just lost my old one so now I'm working my way through the encyclopedia on how to use it.

I plan to travel more next year. First trip up...Singapore and Hong Kong at the end of January. I better get studying about that camera. I haven't owned one with different lenses in 20 years. Wow, that sounds old!

I'm kicking off this new year with the cold from hell Hawaii and quite possibly copious amounts of Champagne.
Wishing you a Happy New Year filled with joy, laughter and all that makes you glow.

Do you make New Year resolutions?
Do you stick to them?

  3. Happy New Year! No, I never make resolutions, I know my limitations. If I stopped swearing my vocabulary would be reduced to nothing. Ha! I'm just going to keep doing what makes me happy, life can be short so you may as well enjoy it. Glad you won a new camera, exciting new toy to play around with.

  5. I have decided to go with the flow a bit more this year which comes under the heading of stop worrying about things I can't control (difficult of me). Meditation is definitely worth the commitment. Love the cat expression.

  6. I love your energy and spirit, it might inspire me to make a few resolutions.
The power of thought, willing that camera to be won by your husband could be the signal that positives are coming your way and starting immediately!
Letting go of the "illusion of control" is one mighty task...
I read somewhere that the only control we have is our reaction to things.

That Bob cat made me laugh!
Happy Holidays and please take lots of photos, I'd love to travel vicariously through you!

    Hugs,
    Leslie

  8. I like the cashmere knitting resolution- sounds luxurious and practical all at once. For me, I'm taking the #shopsecondhandfirst pledge for 2013 http://bit.ly/RrNEyE I know I always tend to do that, but this time, I'm going to make it front and center and share with others likeminded (I invite you to join me!).

Wishing you an abundan, happyt and cooling (for the personal summers) 2013! -Bella Q

  9. I wish I had the bone structure for a bob, it's such a chic haircut but I look ugly as sin with one, I did it once at 15 and the whole school fell silent and all I got was " Why did you do that?' as if I had self harmed.

Singapore and Hong Kong, wow that's quiet a trip. Can't wait to read all about it.

I am a terrible control freak,it's a horrible trait, I tie myself in knots sometimes.

  10. I got my mouth washed out with soap once for saying crap in front of my Mom; I was about 11 or 12. So maybe it is a swear word, though I think it's a 'small' one. I hate to admit what comes out of my mouth when I'm startled. Now that Bill has a grand-daughter, I must get better about this or she won't be allowed to visit us... I joined a gym last Friday, but only for a month...we'll see how that goes. Happy new year!

  11. Your cat's bob is hilarious. Unfortunately, I think it looks like mine! I set an intention this year not to make self defeating statements and "snarky" comments. Each time I do, I must make a $.10 contribution to the snark jar. I should have an IPad financed by year's end. My husband spent the day baiting me with opportunities to say something fresh. I only had to make one donation to the jar, but the year's still young.

Happy 2013 filled with health, joy and peace.
